Shortly after moving to Bushwick in Brooklyn, it was hard not to notice the graffiti and art that adorned almost every bare wall of the neighborhood. From cafe store fronts to old industrial factories, this is some of the street art I’ve seen. More images to come in this series of ‘Seen Around Bushwick’

A few months ago I worked on the official webpage for the Grant Morrison documentary and now I have the pleasure of bringing you Respect! Films latest endeavor: The Official Warren Ellis documentary. This is the follow up biopic on yet another influential comic book writer. The sister websites share similar designs with contrasting color schemes. Designed by me in conjunction with Jordan Rennert. Check them out here: www.grantmorrisonmovie.com and www.warrenellismovie.com. If you like the work please help us finish the upcoming Warren Ellis documentary by donating to our Kickstarter!

Earlier today the Respect crew and I were finishing the last scenes of the upcoming Bronze music video. We shot it in the Mamaroneck and Larchmont area. For those who don’t know, that’s the far far away land known as Westchester, or “upstate” as it’s commonly mistaken. We were all eagerly excited to finish the music video since we all have worked so hard to make it it’s best. We invaded Jordan’s parents’ house for the indoor scenes and promptly moved the crew to the Larchmont reservoir, were we shot all remaining scenes with that ‘golden’ hour sunlight. Check out some of the stills from the day, specially the fun-traits we took as we celebrated wrapping the shoot.

Working today I decided to make a video showing how I went about retouching this image. The girl had a lot of freckles and, sometimes they look nice on models but this time I decided to remove them and enhance the paleness of her skin. Watch in HD and enjoy.

On my latest project with Respect! Films we filmed the music video for Bronze and their single “Horses” from the upcoming EP. If they sound familiar is because maybe you have heard of them from my latest monthly mp3 mixtape. The band raised money from fans through Kickstarter and was able to fund all expenses. The performance was shot in Affaire Lounge in the LES, the perfect setting for our 1920′s theme. And of course it would have not been possible without the help of talented stylist Karin Elgai, who really made the characters and band look their best. We also had Lenora Jayne on make-up and Whitney Meers on PA duty. The Respect crew, as always, was Patrick Meaney: director, Jordan Rennert: director of photography, and me on lighting.

After a 2 month hiatus I am back in full swing with my mixes. More music joy for everyone! Who else was stoked about Arcade Fire’s album of the year Grammy?! There is still hope, people. This month I have a great list of artists across a broad range of genres. Some of them you might have heard of but the others are upcoming acts that have impressed me recently. This totally made me chuckle this morning, great info-graphic for anyone who knows the pains of doing design. Here’s the designer’s, Colin Harman, description:
There are times when things just need to be explained using a spectacular Venn diagram. I made this last night whilst sitting on a screened in porch by an outdoor fireplace when it was late. Design is a funny thing, not as funny as a Kangaroo jumping on a trampoline, but let’s be honest what is as funny as that? I’ll give you a little hint: nothing.
Anyways, I love design, but it has it’s limitations in the creation process. Hopefully this helps you understand what those are and help you choose how you would like your design work in the future.
Your thoughts?
Hah! I probably spend about 1 third of my day lost in there. It’s horrible. By Fuchsia Macaree.
